Deborah Carlson, PhD currently serves as an Audiology consultant following retirement as the Director of the Center for Audiology and Associate Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). During her 33 years at UTMB, Dr. Carlson implemented a rotating 1 year audiology resident position, which recruited 3 AuD externs per year. In addition to her administrative and clinical work, past professional service includes a number of boards and committees related to accreditation & standards, administration and supervision, health care economics and quality measures. coding and reimbursement, scientific/professional education for the American Academy of Audiology (AAA) and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) . She has served on the board of directors and is a past President of the AAA, a founding member and past President of the Texas Academy of Audiology, and a member of the Texas State Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology (SBESLPA).
