Christopher Spankovich, AuD, PhD, MPH is a tenured Professor, audiologist, and Vice Chair of Research for the Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He obtained his Master of Public Health from Emory University, Doctor of Audiology from Rush University, and Doctor of Philosophy from Vanderbilt University. Dr. Spankovich's research includes basic, clinical, and epidemiological investigations for identifying and leveraging modifiable risk factors for mitigating susceptibility to acquired hearing loss and tinnitus. He is currently supported by the NIH-NIDCD for work examining application of mild therapeutic hypothermia to as an otoprotection strategy. He has over 60 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Spankovich's clinical expertise includes advanced diagnostics, hearing conservation, and tinnitus and hyperacusis evaluation and management. He recently completed a 3-year term on the Board of Directors for the Academy. Dr. Spankovich has served as a medico-legal expert in numerous litigations.
