Dr. Wickesberg is a Pediatric Audiologist and a Certified Listening and Spoken Language Specialist. She is the Director of Audiology at Texas Hearing Institute and continues to specialize in both fields with a focus on early intervention and health equity. Her love of music and literacy includes a clinical emphasis on melody as an integral part of building a strong neural foundation within the brain from infancy. Inspired to address the challenge faced by geographically distanced families and motivated to reduce the loss to follow-up statistic in her state, she implemented a remote ABR program in Deep East Texas. She mentors students and professionals in the development of listening and spoken language. Dr. Wickesberg's research focuses on outcomes for bilingual language development in children with hearing loss, the challenges associated with cochlear implants at risk for device failure, and the implications of newborn hearing screening protocols on clinical efficiency.
