Emma Richards (she/her/hers)

Purdue University-St. Jude's Children Hospital

Emma Richards is a fourth year AuD student currently completing her clinical externship at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. She attended undergrad at Butler University in Indianapolis, IN, and graduates in May with her Doctorate of Audiology from Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. She served as Purdue’s chapter of SAA’s Vice President from 2021-2022. Her clinical interests include pediatrics, ototoxicity monitoring, and cochlear implants.

Emma says that her passion for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital became clear as she engaged with each patient and their family. However, what was not as straightforward was training to participate in the 2023 St. Jude Memphis Marathon. Emma had such an outstanding experience during her fourth-year externship she wanted to give back to the hospital, so she completed a seven-month training schedule to prepare. She and six of family members ran the race last December to support the hospital’s mission.
