Andrew J. Vermiglio, AuD is an associate professor at East Carolina University in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders where he is the director of the Speech Perception Lab. His research is in the areas of speech recognition in noise testing, diagnostic accuracy studies, and the central auditory processing disorder construct. He is currently a member of the ASHA Committee on Clinical Research Implementation Science, and Evidence-based Practice (CRISP). He has served as a subject matter expert for ASHA’s Practice Portal on Central Auditory Processing Disorder. He previously taught at California State University, Northridge. Prior to entering academia, Dr. Vermiglio worked as a senior research associate at the House Ear Institute in Los Angeles, California. He is one of the developers of previous commercial versions of the Hearing in Noise Test (HINT). He was part of a team that developed the HINT in 18 languages.
