Dr. Smith is an audiologist for the USAF Hearing Conservation Program’s Operational Hearing Lab. After a 14-year career with the Department of Veterans Affairs, he started So Others May Hear Audiology practice and You Tune Hearing Protection, which has 11 NRRs, 2 SNRs, IPIL, FCC, CE, and Bluetooth certifications. He won the University of Dayton Business Plan competition and delivered earplugs throughout the USA and 75+ countries. He was awarded SBIR Phase I and II contracts from the USAF and developed an earplug with passive and metabolic defense against acoustic trauma. The advancement garnered recognition through publication in the journal Otology and Neurotology. Dr. Smith is currently at the forefront of another SBIR Phase I initiative, engineering in-ear passive and electronic earplugs tailored for the military working dogs’ program, Special Operations Command, US Army, and law enforcement while concurrently serving as a hearing device for canines in the private sector.
