Riley DeBacker is a Research Investigator and Audiologist at the VA RR&D National Center for Rehabilitative Auditory Research & Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology at Oregon Health and Science University. His lab investigates the impacts of HIV and cancer medications on the auditory and balance systems, with a particular focus on the use of AI and machine learning tools to predict and prevent hearing losses. He is also the founder of the LGBTQ+ affinity group Queer Empowerment for Audiologists, Researchers, and Students (QuEARS). For AAA, Riley serves on the Guidelines and Strategic Documents committee and as a professional development advisor to the Professional Development Council.
